Topline Pakistan Research has released a significant report on the production of local mobile manufacturing and assembly, which experienced a substantial increase of 2.2 times year-over-year (YoY) in July 2025. According to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), local mobile companies manufactured or assembled 3.59 million units during July 2025, reflecting a 123% increase YoY and a 64% increase month-over-month (MoM). This growth is primarily due to low base effects.
– The YoY growth is a result of a low baseline in July 2024, when sales decreased as consumers engaged in excessive pre-buying in June 2024 in anticipation of expected changes in the budget.
– Similarly, the MoM growth is attributed to a low baseline in June 2025, when disruptions in the supply chain due to regional conflicts led to reduced production volumes of 2.19 million units.
– During 7M2025, sales of locally manufactured or assembled mobile phones totaled 17.83 million units, down 6% YoY.
– Of the 17.83 million locally assembled mobile phones in 7M2025, 52% (9.36 million units) were 2G phones, while the remaining 48% (8.47 million units) were smartphones.
– Pakistan met 95% of its mobile phone demand through local manufacturing and assembly during 7M2025.
– The top ten locally assembled brands in 7M2025 include VGO Tel (2.12 million units), followed by Infinix (2.01 million units), Itel (1.53 million units), Vivo (1.38 million units), Xiaomi (1.04 million units), Samsung (0.93 million units), Tecno (0.89 million units), Q Mobile (0.72 million units), G’Five (0.7 million units), and Nokia (0.65 million units).
– Outlook: Moving forward, we expect mobile phone sales to grow by 7-8% YoY over the next twelve months, as the base effects have now stabilized and overall inflation remains low. Additionally, brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi typically launch new smartphone models around September each year, which is likely to further boost demand in the coming months.
– Within the listed sector, Airlink Communication (AIRLINK) and Lucky Cement (LUCK) stand to benefit from the rising demand, as their locally assembled brands like Tecno, Xiaomi, and Samsung rank among the top ten in Pakistan.
