Pakistan local mobile manufacturing/assembly up 55% MoM in Sep-25

As per the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), local mobile companies manufactured/assembled 3.01 million units during Sep 2025, up 40% YoY and 55% MoM. The YoY growth largely reflects a low base from Sep 2024, when sales remained subdued due to excessive pre-buying in Jun 2024 ahead of expected budget changes.

The MoM increase, on the other hand, was primarily driven by pent-up demand, as consumers delayed purchases in anticipation of new model launches. Major brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, and Infinix introduced their latest smartphones (Galaxy S25 FE, Redmi 15 series, and Infinix Note 40X 5G) during the month, prompting a surge in replacement and upgrade activity.

During 9M2025, locally manufactured/assembled mobile phone sales stood at 22.78 million units, up 1% YoY.

Of the 22.78 million locally assembled mobile phones in 9M2025, 48% (10.86 million units) were 2G phones, while the remaining 52% (11.92 million units) were smartphones.

Pakistan fulfilled 94% of its mobile phone demand through local manufacturing/assembly during 9M2025.

Outlook: As we advance, we expect mobile phone sales to grow by 7-8% YoY over the next 12 months, supported by a stable PKR, easing inflation, and improving consumer purchasing power.

§  Within the listed space, Airlink Communication (AIRLINK) and Lucky Cement (LUCK) stand to benefit from rising demand, as their locally assembled brands, such as Tecno, Xiaomi, and Samsung, rank among the top 10 in Pakistan.
