The first Pakistan Economic Summit 2026, held in Islamabad, has set a new benchmark for national dialogue on economic reform and opportunity. The summit brought together policymakers, industrialists, exporters, investors, economists, and business leaders to underscore Pakistan’s commitment to a shared vision for sustainable growth, industrial revival, and regional connectivity.
Discussions focused on fiscal reforms, investment facilitation, and digital transformation across manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, and finance, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a competitive hub in South Asia.
The summit’s success drew praise from leading voices in the business community. Tariq Haleem, former Vice President of FPCCI, congratulated S.M. Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief of the United Business Group (UBG), for his visionary leadership in organizing the historic event.
Haleem emphasized that the summit laid the foundation for meaningful dialogue on Pakistan’s economic challenges and future opportunities. He urged that such initiatives must evolve into a permanent national economic movement, extending beyond Islamabad to major industrial and commercial centers such as Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Multan, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Peshawar, and Quetta.
Similarly, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association and President of the Pakistan Business Forum (Sindh Region), termed the summit a “landmark event” that demonstrated the unity of Pakistan’s business community behind a shared national agenda.
He noted that only a visionary and courageous leader could successfully organize an event of such magnitude and praised Tanveer’s ability to transform the private sector’s collective vision into meaningful action.
Both leaders stressed that future summits must not only be held regularly across Pakistan’s major cities but also ensure the implementation of recommendations made in previous conferences.
This continuity would strengthen coordination between federal and provincial governments, the private sector, and investors, while promoting local industries, boosting exports, attracting new investment, and creating employment opportunities.
By turning dialogue into action, Pakistan can advance practical, region-specific policy solutions that contribute to long-term economic resilience.
The inaugural Pakistan Economic Summit has set the stage for a credible, influential national platform. Its success highlights the importance of sustained engagement, inclusivity, and follow-through.
As Pakistan looks ahead, the summit must evolve into a regular, nationwide movement—one that not only generates ideas but ensures their implementation, driving the country toward stability, prosperity, and global competitiveness.
