Calling for a new era of economic integration between Pakistan and Iran, the Commercial Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Murad Nemati, emphasized that the two brotherly countries must capitalize on their unparalleled geographical advantages and forge stronger joint ventures to transform bilateral relations into a long-term strategic economic partnership capable of reshaping regional trade and prosperity.

Addressing a meeting held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) during the visit of a trade delegation from Khorasan Razavi Province, Murad Nemati conveyed his profound gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for standing firmly with Iran during difficult times, saying that recent developments had reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly relationship and mutual trust that have historically united the two neighbouring countries. “In challenging times, true friends are recognized, and Iran will never forget the solidarity extended by Pakistan”, he remarked.

Executive Director of Dispatching Trade Delegations of Iran, Mohsen Fallah; Acting President, KCCI, Muhammad Raza; Vice President, Arif Lakhani; Former President, Shamim Ahmed Firpo; KCCI Executive Members; and members of the Iranian delegation attended the meeting.

Highlighting the significance of regional cooperation, Murad Nemati stressed that Pakistan and Iran possess unique strategic advantages that can position them as gateways connecting South Asia, West Asia and East Asia. He noted that enhanced connectivity and economic integration would not only unlock new trade and investment opportunities but would also contribute to greater peace, security and prosperity throughout the region.

Referring to the challenges confronting bilateral trade, including border-related issues, logistics constraints, customs procedures, and infrastructure bottlenecks, Mr. Nemati called for greater collaboration and a fresh framework to convert shared opportunities into sustainable economic gains. He particularly emphasized the importance of strengthening connectivity among Karachi, Gwadar, Bandar Abbas, and Chabahar, in addition to enhancing infrastructure in border regions to facilitate smoother trade flows.

Underscoring the need for deeper industrial cooperation, Mr. Nemati stated that joint ventures between Pakistani and Iranian businesses should be accorded the highest priority. He pointed out that Pakistan’s preferential market access under the GSP Plus scheme, coupled with improved infrastructure on the Iranian side and growing Chinese investment in the region, creates immense opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships that can generate long-term economic dividends.

He further called for closer cooperation among chambers of commerce and urged the business communities of both countries to intensify trade delegation exchanges and institutional engagement. Stressing that commercial relations transcend political developments, Murad Nemati observed that strong business-to-business linkages are essential to building lasting, resilient ties between neighbouring nations.

Reaffirming Iran’s commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment, Murad Nemati expressed optimism that economic engagement between Pakistan and Iran would enter a new phase of growth and pledged to continue working closely with KCCI and other stakeholders to unlock the vast untapped potential existing between the two brotherly countries.

Welcoming the trade delegation from Khorasan Razavi Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Acting President KCCI Muhammad Raza stated that the prevailing regional and global circumstances have made it imperative for Pakistan and Iran to move beyond traditional trading arrangements and forge strategic partnerships capable of unlocking the enormous untapped economic potential between the two brotherly nations.

He termed the visit of the Iranian delegation as a reflection of the deep-rooted friendship and centuries-old cultural, religious and historical ties shared by Pakistan and Iran, adding that stronger economic engagement between the two neighbouring countries has become more important than ever.

Referring to the evolving regional landscape, Muhammad Raza observed that periods of uncertainty and challenges often create unprecedented opportunities for forward-looking nations. Expressing optimism that the region was moving towards lasting peace, he noted that enhanced stability would pave the way for stronger bilateral cooperation and a new era of trade and investment between Pakistan and Iran.

“History has shown that strong nations emerge from challenging times and that economic cooperation becomes even more meaningful during such periods. Today, the people and business communities of Pakistan and Iran have an opportunity to think beyond conventional approaches and lay the foundations of a stronger and more prosperous economic future”, he remarked.

He stressed that the time had come to shift Pakistan-Iran relations from a purely buyer-seller framework to one based on industrial partnerships, joint ventures and long-term investment cooperation. Greater collaboration in mining and mineral exploration, manufacturing, information technology and SME development could generate substantial benefits for businesses on both sides, he added.
