Opening ceremony of first Pak Iran Virtual B2b Meetings

The 1st Pak-Iran Virtual B2B Meetings are being organized by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd in collaboration with Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran inviting Iranian businessmen from different sectors including Health, IT, Electronic, Plastic, Dental, Waste water treatment, Construction Material, Solar Equipment, Education. The online meetings will start from 2nd February onwards.

In efforts to continuously promote and enhance trade relations amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 1st Pak-Iran Virtual B2B Meetings will play a pivotal role to connect the businessmen of both brotherly countries Pakistan & Iran.

The Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan started his speech; he said Pakistan and Iran are Islamic Brotherly countries. These virtual meetings will encourage businessmen on both side to explore trade potential even during Covid 19 crisis times. Iranian Government is very much willing for political and economical developments with Pakistan. The Honorable Ambassador mentioned many sectors and specifically highlighted that both the countries can cooperate in Science and Technology sector.

The Ambassador of Pakistan in Iran, H.E. Mr. Rahim Hayat Qureshi said the virtual meetings will create opportunities for increasing bilateral trade and Joint Ventures can also be explored. He mentioned the words that “Sky is the Limit” for this trade corridor for which a new border opening has also been created between Chabahar and Gwadar. Pakistan has many opportunities like Dairy, Food, Textile and many different sectors for Iranian Businessmen while Iran is most popular in Petrochemical, Gas and Energy and other sectors. Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline project is expected to start very soon. He mentioned that the discussions are underway to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both countries. The opportunity of creating atleast 6 border markets on both sides, is also being explored with Iran. He did highlight the challenge of non-existence of banking channel for businessmen but insisted both sides to explore alternate ways like Barter Trade until the banking channel issue is sorted out.

Iranian Consul General in Karachi, Mr. Ahmad Mohammadi said Online Virtual Meetings will increase the trade activities. More than 30 Iranian companies and more than 100 Pakistani companies are expected to be part of these online meetings. Iranian Business Delegation will also visit Pakistan soon. He appreciated the role of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan in organizing this connectivity between Iran and Pakistan.

Mr. Nasser Hyatt Magoo, President, FPCCI said he has been personally doing business from Iran for last many years, but since last few years we are facing the issue of banking channel for trade. He appreciated that both the Governments are working to resolve the banking issue. He also mentioned that Pakistani Businessmen will plan to visit Iran. He also appreciated the discussions on FTA and border markets, it will be very helpful for Pakistani Businessmen and Iranian Businessmen.

On the occasion of the opening ceremony, Representative of Science and Technology from the Vice Presidency of Iran also presented the opportunities to collaborate in the field.
