The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance education and research in the fields of engineering, sciences, emerging technologies, and beyond. The MoU was officially signed by Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director/CEO of OGDCL, and Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Rector of GIK.
With this collaboration, OGDCL aims to explore and pioneer advancements in alternate energy, green energy, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and research and development (R&D) initiatives. As a testament to OGDCL’s commitment to decarbonization, the first pilot project under this MoU will be design and development of a hydrogen prototype for producing green energy.
OGDCL, as Pakistan’s largest Exploration and Production Company in the upstream sector, is poised to expand its horizons and enhance its human resource expertise through advanced, customized, and diversified programs. The GIK Institute, known for its commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering research in various disciplines, is enthusiastic about playing an inspiring role in this partnership. The collaboration encompasses joint research and development, sharing of techniques, and technological advancements in areas of mutual interest. This strategic collaboration aims to meet challenges and achieve goals for continued success and sustainability.
Under the MoU, both institutions will collaborate to identify the best alternate energy sources for OGDCL’s Green Energy Projects, with a specific focus on hydrogen. GIK will support OGDCL on predictive measurement techniques using artificial intelligence. The collaboration extends to joint training activities, facility exchange, academic and information exchange, conferences, seminars, and the undertaking of joint research and start-up projects.
The MoU underscores a shared dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, positioning both OGDCL and GIKI at the forefront of transformative advancements in education and research. Both OGDCL and GIKI are poised to leverage their collective expertise and resources to make meaningful contributions to the fields of energy, technology, and beyond.
