In a momentous event for the residents of Korangi, Rahmatullah Sheikh has assumed the position of Transaction Officer of Municipality Korangi and Town Nazims. The election of Sheikh has been welcomed by the President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Faraz-ur-Rehman, who expressed his optimism about the future development of Korangi Town.

During a lunch event organized in honor of Rahmatullah Sheikh and the newly elected moderators in Korangi Town Municipality, President Faraz-ur-Rehman extended his congratulations and emphasized that Sheikh’s appointment would pave the way for the progress of Korangi Town. He expressed his hope that the new town chairman would take swift measures to complete the ongoing development projects in the area.

Highlighting the significant contribution of the Korangi Industrial Area to Pakistan’s tax revenue, President Faraz-ur-Rehman acknowledged the challenging economic conditions faced by the business community. Despite the difficulties, he commended Korangi’s industrialists for not only being the highest taxpayers but also for their role in boosting exports. Furthermore, Faraz-ur-Rehman mentioned his investment in beautifying the industrial area and improving infrastructure, with the support of KITE Limited under a Public-Private Partnership.

President KATI also raised concerns about mismanagement and corruption within government institutions, asserting that these issues hinder the fulfillment of their responsibilities and exacerbate existing problems. He called for increased cooperation between industrialists, the provincial government, and local bodies to address these challenges.

In response, Rahmatullah Sheikh, the Transition Officer of Korangi Municipality, acknowledged the need to expand the tax net in Korangi. He emphasized the importance of sector cooperation and proposed the formation of a committee to oversee the income generated from industrial areas and monitor the corresponding expenditures. Sheikh also underscored the crucial role played by industrialists in the progress of Pakistan.

Sheikh further revealed plans for a sports ground in Korangi, inspired by the Moin Khan Academy, which would provide state-of-the-art facilities and promote various sports activities. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of enabling the town administration to effectively address the challenges faced, including insufficient funds for salaries and the need to review the tax system.

In the fight against corruption, Rahmatullah Sheikh expressed zero tolerance and urged industrialists not to engage in bribery but to directly deposit their taxes into the treasury.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Zubair Chhaya, the Vice Patron-in-Chief of KATI, Nighat Awan, Senior Vice President, Muslim Mohammadi, Vice President, Nazeem Landhi Town Naeem Shaikh, and TMC Korangi’s Aziz-ur-Rehman.
