MNT-Halan’s Halan Microfinance Bank receives a license from SBP to expand

Halan Microfinance Bank, a Pakistani microfinance bank owned by MNT-Halan, has received a national license from the State Bank of Pakistan, enabling it to expand throughout the country beyond Sindh province.

This license enables the Bank to provide a range of financial services, including branchless banking, mobile banking, and wallet services, which complement its existing products such as microfinance and savings accounts. Targeting the financially underserved, the Bank provides unsecured funding with minimal documentation, particularly for women, agricultural workers, and commercial vehicles, aiming to help micro-entrepreneurs and low-income segments achieve financial independence without collateral.

Mounir Nakhla, CEO of MNT-Halan, expressed that this national license is a significant milestone for expanding their services in Pakistan, aided by strong collaboration from local stakeholders.

Christos Argyriou, CEO of Halan Microfinance Bank, noted that their customer-centric model has enabled rapid growth, increasing their locations from 19 to 49 in just one year, with plans to reach 300 locations within three years. This commitment to financial empowerment aligns with MNT-Halan’s global mission to enhance access to financial services through technology, building on its success in markets such as Turkey, the UAE, and Egypt.
