Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI (M) S.Bt (Retd), was briefed by Pakistan Oasis Group at the TP-1 site regarding the operational progress of the treatment plant. Senior management officials of KPT reviewed the roadmap for the proposed TP-5 wastewater treatment facility (Phase I: 30 MGD), which is designed for industrial water reuse, environmentally safe discharge, and resource recovery, including fertiliser and methane production.

Once completed, TP-5 aims to address the chronic water crisis affecting Karachi. Additionally, a proposed TPX desalination plant was examined to meet KPT’s water demand by utilising subsoil sources, thereby reducing reliance on tanker supply.

The visit concluded with an on-site inspection of TP-1.
