KPT conducts weekly marine clean-up, collecting 37,000 kg of floating debris

Karachi Port Trust (KPT), through its Marine Pollution Control Department, continued its efforts to protect the marine environment and maintain a cleaner harbour by carrying out systematic floating debris collection operations from 26 September to 2 October 2026. During the reporting period, the department conducted clean-up operations at East Wharf, West Wharf, Oil Piers, and Boat Basin Jetty, collecting 37,000 kg of floating marine debris.

The operations involved 52 systematic boat deployments, with 165 personnel mobilised to ensure effective collection and removal of floating waste from harbour waters.

All collected waste was subsequently transported to the designated Garbage Transfer Station of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) for appropriate disposal.

KPT’s continued marine clean-up initiatives reflect its commitment to reducing marine pollution, protecting marine life and sustaining cleaner oceans, contributing to a cleaner and healthier harbour environment.
