Khalid A. Majeed, Chairman of Mekotex (Pvt.) Limited, Karachi, has been elected Chairman of the Pakistan Denim Manufacturers and Exporter Association (PDMEA) for 2022 – 23 during the recent annual elections. Likewise, Abdur Rahim of Siddiqsons Limited (Denim City) as Senior Vice Chairman, Amanullah Kasim of Kassim Textile Mills Ltd as Vice Chairman (South) and Siddiq Bhatti of U. S. Apparel as Vice Chairman (North) elected respectively for the same tenure.
Six executive members of PDMEA named as Shaheen Merchant of S.M. Denim Mills Ltd, Asif Riaz Tata of Naveena Exports Limited, Raza Iqbal Agha of Denim International, Muhammad Hanif Machiyara of Hantex 365, Ahmed Humayun Sheikh, of Azgard9 Ltd, and Yaqoob Ahmed, of Artistic Milliners (Pvt) Ltd were elected unopposed for 2022-23.
PDMEA is the Association of manufacturers and exporters of denim fabric representing denim mills throughout Pakistan. Pakistan has emerged as a denim hub in South East Asia. Its major exporting countries are Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Latin America, European, USA and others.
The investment of the Denim sector in Pakistan is more than billions of rupees, providing jobs to many workforces in a short period.
Founding Chairman Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said that Pakistan has emerged as a hub of Denim in the region, a success story for PDMEA.
