On receiving numerous complaints from member industries regarding a lack of power supply for 10-15 days, the Association invited Sadia Dada (Chief Distribution, Marketing & Communication Officer), K-Electric, to a meeting with affected members. Other high officials of K-Electric accompanied her.

President Ahmed Azeem Alvi informed the KE officials that Industries have been without power supply for two weeks and don’t have alternative power supply arrangements for such a long time, which is causing significant hardship and massive losses to industries.

Detailed discussions took place during the meeting with Members of the Association, during which they shared their grievances at length with the KE Officials. The conclusion was that the problem currently being faced by the industries is not due to technical faults, but rather due to legal action against massive power theft from two specific Industrial Feeders. Cursory details from KE regarding the theft revealed a vast and intricate supply network, including cables and ancillary equipment. As a result, all industries, including K-Electric, are facing problems.

KE officials stated that they are in constant touch with Law Enforcement Agencies for an amicable resolution and the removal of the aforementioned system for good, so that industrial supply can be resumed without delay.

Ms. Sadia Dada also requested the Association and the affected Members to extend support and assured S.I.T.E. Association of Industry that power supply to all affected industries would be restored by the close of business on 5th January.

Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh stressed that K-Electric should compensate for the losses suffered by the affected industries by passing on some benefit from the savings from electricity theft, as the industries have already suffered huge financial and production losses over the past two weeks and are facing a tough time.

Moreover, it was also decided to set up a Helpdesk at the office of the S.I.T.E. Association of Industry on a regular basis to address members’ issues related to KE, with the schedule and timings to be mutually decided.

Muhammad Riaz Dhedhi (Vice President), Muhammad Kamran Arbi (Immediate Past President), Abdul Hadi (Former President), Saleem Nagaia (Former SVP) & representatives of affected industries attended the meeting.
