KCCI welcomes decision to ease restrictions from June 15

The leadership of Businessmen Group (BMG) and Office Bearers of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), while warmly welcoming the decision to ease restrictions from June 15 by National Command & Operation Center, stated that the business community of Karachi warmly welcomes this desperately needed ease in restrictions which would help businessmen/ industrialists to quickly return to normalcy and go in favor of the economy.

Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman BMG Tahir Khaliq, Haroon Farooki, Anjum Nisar, General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil, President KCCI Shariq Vohra, Senior Vice President Saqib Goodluck and Vice President Shamsul Islam ul Khan, in a joint statement, requested the Sindh government to promulgate the decisions announced by NCOC by issuing relevant notification at the provincial level.

They further said that it was also a wise decision to make it mandatory for all public and private sector employees to get inoculated but a massive awareness campaign has to be initiated to encourage the masses to get vaccinated as it has been observed that many people were still reluctant due to misinformation circulating on social media apps/ websites.

Moreover, the number of COVID-19 Vaccination Centers have to be raised all over the country while the possibility of setting up emergency medical camps at all commercial markets and residential localities of not just Karachi but the entire country must also be taken into consideration in order to make Pakistan a COVID-Free State at the earliest possible time, they stressed, adding that as the younger population has also been allowed to avail walk-in vaccination facility, medical teams can also be sent to all the schools, colleges and universities to expedite the inoculation.

They were of the opinion that the government’s decision to end 50 percent work-from-home policy would surely improve performance and production capacity of numerous businesses which suffered badly and have remained seriously depressed since the outbreak of COVID pandemic.

While appreciating NCOC’s strategy to initiate incentivized campaign for various sectors to encourage vaccination, BMG Leadership and KCCI Office Bearers urged that Pakistan was currently going through an extraordinary situation therefore it was the responsibility of all the countrymen to exhibit discipline and solidarity in the ongoing war against COVID pandemic by coming forward to get themselves and all their loved ones vaccinated which was not only in their own interest but also in the larger interest of the country. Getting vaccinated doesn’t mean that citizens stop complying to SOPs because the life-threatening virus was still active. Though limited but cases were still being reported every day hence everyone must strictly keep on using the masks and comply to all other essential SOPs as well till the COVID pandemic is completely eradicated from every nook and corner of Pakistan, they added.

BMG Leadership and KCCI Office Bearers also appealed the entire business community to get themselves and all their workforce at shops, offices, factories and industries vaccinated as soon as possible so that this threat could permanently be eliminated from Pakistan.
