Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Reza Baqir as Governor State Bank of Pakistan. In a statement released by the association Petron-in-Chief SM Muneer, President Danish Khan, Senior Vice President Faraz-ur-Rehman and Vice President of KATI Maheen Salman applauded the appointment.

SM Muneer Said that PM Khan wants to build an excellent economic team to achieve the goal of economic prosperity under his vision, Dr. Baqir’s appointment as the Governor SBP is an important step in this direction. He said while government was willing to bring a comprehensive financial plan and strategy therefore appointment of Dr. Reza Baqir, an internationally acclaimed economic expert, as governor SBP is a good sign. He added that Dr. Baqir has a tremendous experience to deal with macroeconomics on high level assignments and in-depth understanding of economic affairs. Mr. Muneer said that business community of Pakistan has full confidence in the vision of PM Khan and hopes for better policy measures by new members of his economic team.

President KATI Danish Khan welcomed the decision. He referred that newly appointed Governor SBP has a vast experience of work with international institutions and a highly qualified professional. He urged that to enhance economic activity in SMEs sector, bringing interest rate to single digit would be a great challenge and we hope that the Governor would consider this as a priority.
