KATI urged PM to reduce electricity prices up to 30 pc

President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Sheikh Umer Rehan has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to reduce Electricity prices up to 30 pc as the oil prices has been reduced locally and crushed internationally.

Sheikh Umer Rehan said that a large part of electricity generation in our country was depending on oil and the significant reduce in price of that fuel therefore the domestic and industrial consumers should be benefitted of the current fall in oil prices by reduction of electricity tariffs. He said that PM Khan and his team dealing the current Coid-19 crisis with a very practical approach and also keeping economic challenges in focus along with the medical threats of the pandemic. “The only answer to the economic challenge of this situation is to boost industrial production and the biggest hurdle in the way of it is production cost, which has a great chunk of energy bills. If government wants stabilize economy so this is the time to reduce the heavy burden of electricity burden from the shoulders of already struggling industry and exports sector of the country” he added.

He further said that on this point of time reducing electricity prices would help government to fight back the real economic challenges of current situation, those are going to soar further in upcoming months. He suggested that it would better to avail the opportunity and provide cheap energy to the industry so it can perfume with more capacity and ultimately it would bring stability to the country.
