Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) urged PM Imran Khan for the reversal of decision taken by Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of federal cabinet to charge dues under the head of Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC).

President KATI Saleem-uz-Zaman said that industrial sector of the country have already been going through the toughest times due to interruption in gas supply and financial hardships because of crisis emerged after Covid-19 pandemic. He said that Industrialists had clearly told the government that financial health of industry couldn’t allow to pay any additional charges in the name of any levy of cess.

He said that during currently in a meeting with PM Khan Industrialist already briefed him about the reservations on GIDC issue. Saleem-uz-Zaman mentioned that business community appreciated PM Khan’s effort to support industrial production and steps to promote country’s exports however GIDC is the most pressing issue which needs his earliest attention.
