Patron-in-Chief of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) SM Muneer and President Sheikh Umer Rehan applauded the efforts of Prime Minister Imran Khan and his economic team on getting extension of GSP Plus status by EU.

SM Muneer said that extended Generalized System of Preferences Plus of by International Trade Committee of EU parliament is a sign of hope for our economy and it was become possible due to the efforts of PM Khan, Advisor to PM on commerce and industry Razak Dawood and all other related government agencies, he added. He facilitates PM Khan and his team on this positive development.

SM Muneer noted that after getting the status in 2014 Pakistani exports to EU increased to 65 pc . He said in current global economic situation extension of GSP Plus for Pakistan till 2022 is a great achievement of PM Khan and his government. “It was only possible due to the measures taken by PM Khan to reform laws, social conditions and reforms in different segments including steps towards peace and harmony in the country and region” he added.

Sheikh Umer Rehan said that to get maximum advantages of this facility the basic problems of Industry pertaining to energy, infrastructure and cost of production should be resolve on priority bases. He said that along with PM Khan and his economic team all the government agencies and departments played their role for implementation of 27 protocols should also be appreciated. He suggested that government should prepare a comprehensive strategy to diversify Pakistan’s trade to EU.
