KATI and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board signed MoU for cleaning Korangi Industrial Area

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board and Korangi Association of Trade and Industries (KATI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collect garbage from Korangi Industrial Area and to carry out sanitation activities.
Acting President of KATI Maheen Salman, Administrator Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Zubair Ahmed Channa, CEO KITE Limited Zubair Chhaya, Gulzar Firoz, Saleem-uz-Zaman, Masood Naqi, Vice President Farrukh Qandhari, SSWMB Executive Director Tariq Nizamani, Secretary Board Shahbaz Tahir and others were also present.

On the occasion, Administrator Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the steps taken by Sindh Solid Waste Management Board are welcome. He said that soon Solid Waste Board will take over the management of sanitation in Karachi for which steps are being taken very fast. He appreciated the performance.
MD Zubair Channa said that efforts and strategies have been carried out garbage collection from every house in Korangi district is being started this week.

KATI Acting President Maheen Salman assured full cooperation and said that the initiatives of SSWMB are commendable. She said that it is the responsibility of all of us to keep the city clean and provide a pollution-free environment. The initiative will also help in improving the infrastructure and will co-operate with the Solid Waste Management Authority for the beautification and cleanliness of the industrial area.

Explaining the details, Zubair Channa, MD, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, said that it is very important to formulate a plan of action for the removal of municipal waste and industrial waste from industrial areas. Under this, SSWMB’s outsourced company will ensure supply of manual sweeping, mechanical sweeping, mechanical washing, and dustbin including garbage collection while in this regard each unit of Korangi Industrial Area will pay appropriate compensation according to its size. He further said that industries web portal has also been introduced for the preparation of database.
