Karachi University to offer Retail Management Programme

For the first time in the country at university level, Karachi University will launch education programmes and courses in the field of retail management and store operations. This was said by Dr. Khalid Iraqi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi on the occasion of signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ChaseUp Shopping City, Pakistan’s leading chain of retail stores operating since 1984.

As per the MoU, ChaseUp will equip and upgrade the Advanced Research Library of the University’s Public Administration Department with such state-of-the-art facilities as a multimedia projection system, networking infrastructure, air-conditioning utilities, furniture, etc.

Salman Bashir, Chief Executive, ChaseUp Shopping City, said, the retail sector is an emerging business sector in Pakistan and the provision of research-based education at higher level will help the field grow and evolve in many dimensions, providing employment to hundreds of thousands of people across the country.

Muhammad Rehan Siddiqui, Head of Human Resources and Yousuf Munir from the Training & Development Division of the ChaseUp, were also present at the MoU signing ceremony. –Ends
