One of the world’s largest container vessels arrived at Karachi Port on July 12, 2026, showcasing the port’s ability to accommodate ultra-large container ships. The vessel, MSC ERICA, has a length overall (LOA) of 398.5 meters, a beam of 59 meters, a carrying capacity of 20,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a gross tonnage (GT) of 194,308 metric tons, and a draft of 12.0 meters.

After completing cargo operations at Karachi Port, MSC ERICA will continue its journey to Dalian, China.

During its call at the port, more than 3,000 containers are expected to be handled. The captain of MSC ERICA praised the Karachi Port Pilots for their exceptional professionalism, safe ship handling, and warm hospitality, describing Karachi Port as one of the best in the region.
