Karachi’s maritime trade continues to show resilience, with 13 merchant vessels currently berthed across the city’s key terminals, reflecting steady flows of industrial raw materials, agricultural commodities, and containerized goods.
At South Asia Pakistan Terminals Limited (SAPTL), berths 01–05 are occupied by three vessels, including a container ship, a bulk carrier, and a tanker, underscoring the terminal’s role in handling mixed cargoes vital to Pakistan’s trade.
Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) is managing four vessels, with consignments of canola, rock phosphate, and clinker being discharged. Additional activity at berths 18–25 includes shipments of bulk cargo, cement, and rice, highlighting the terminal’s importance in supporting both industrial and agricultural supply chains.
Meanwhile, Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) is handling two container vessels, contributing to the overall throughput of containerized trade.
Industry observers note that the balanced mix of cargoes – ranging from food staples to construction materials – reflects the port’s strategic role in sustaining Pakistan’s economy. The operations also demonstrate the efficiency of Karachi’s terminal infrastructure in accommodating diverse shipping requirements.
