Karachi Port handles 108,277 mt of fertilizer as Rabi season approaches

Four vessels carrying a combined 108,277 metric tonnes of fertilizer have berthed at Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML), underscoring the scale, efficiency and operational reliability of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in supporting Pakistan’s agricultural supply chain.

The shipments comprise 9,277 MT of potash fertilizer aboard HSL Mexico, while Happy Founder, Akson Adam and Zong Chang Hong Sheng delivered 5,000 MT, 44,000 MT and 50,000 MT of DAP fertilizer, respectively. Happy Founder completed discharge operations and departed on October 17, with Fujairah as its next port of call.

The arrival and efficient handling of these cargoes highlight KPT’s critical role in ensuring the timely distribution of essential agricultural inputs across the country. DAP fertilizer remains a key nutrient source for Pakistan’s Rabi crops, and uninterrupted supply through the port is vital for sustaining farm productivity and strengthening national food security.

The movement of more than 108,000 MT of fertilizer through KGTML reflects Karachi Port’s strategic importance in facilitating agricultural trade and supporting the country’s crop production cycle.
