K-Electric removes 200kg of illegal wiring in Orangi

K-Electric (KE) has intensified efforts to curb electricity theft, removing nearly 200 kilograms of illegal connections (kunda) in Metroville and Orangi Town, which were causing a monthly loss of about 350,000 units. This fiscal year, KE has conducted 209 removal drives in Orangi, eliminating around 6,000 kg of illegal wiring that contributed to monthly losses of 11 million units.

Targeted operations have also been conducted in areas such as Al-Fateh Colony, Abidabad, and others, where theft continues to affect KE’s distribution network and safety. KE spokesperson Imran Rana highlighted the importance of community cooperation in tackling illegal connections.

Residents are encouraged to use legal metered connections and report theft through KE’s digital channels. By reducing electricity theft and ensuring prompt bill payments, KE aims to improve recovery and provide a more reliable power supply.
