Jawad Ahmed Cheema appointed as new CEO of PSO

Jawad Ahmed Cheema has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan State Oil (PSO). His appointment has been approved by the PSO Board. He will assume his responsibilities as CEO on May 18, 2026, and his appointment is for a period of three years.

Jawad Ahmed Cheema will replace the interim CEO, Abdul Sami. He has more than 28 years of experience in the energy sector and has served in key positions across Asia, Europe, and other regions. He has previously served as CEO of Shell Pakistan and as CEO of Karachi Hydrocarbon Terminal.

Meanwhile, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, President of the Pakistan Business Forum (Sindh Region) and Convener of the FPCCI Energy Committee, has welcomed the appointment of Jawad Ahmed Cheema as the new CEO of PSO. He stated that Cheema has extensive experience in the energy sector, and during his tenure as head of Shell, they worked extensively to improve the petroleum sector.
