Jam Sadiq Bridge is to be made from 4 to 8 lanes, Murtaza Wahab

Adviser to the Chief Minister Sindh and candidate for Mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, has said that Jam Sadiq Bridge is being changed from four to eight lanes, similarly signal Free Corridor is going to be made from Sunset Blvd towards Sharah-e-Faisal. While the work on the first phase of the Malir Expressway will start soon. He expressed these views while addressing the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

KATI President Farazur Rehman, Vice Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Vice President Muslim Mohammadi, Chairman Standing Committee for Tree Plantation Junaid Naqi, CEO KITE Limited Zahid Saeed, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Sheikh Fazal-e-Jalil, People’s Party District Korangi President Javed Sheikh, Sindh Council Member Sahibzada Moazzam Qureshi and others were also present.

Murtaza Wahab added that KATI gives regard but there are times when we had arguments. The Sindh Cabinet has approved 50 new ambulances for Rescue 1122, the Sindh government gives two and a half billion rupees annually to Indus Hospital, while the Yellow Line bus service will go from Darul Uloom to Shahrah Faisal. Murtaza Wahab added that the first phase of the new safe city project will be completed in the next one year, it is made in three phases. He said that all the parties should make the Charter of Karachi together. The budget has been allocated for the construction of the Korangi Causeway Bridge, the construction of which is planned to be completed in 16 months.

Earlier, KATI President Faraz-ur-Rehman congratulated Murtaza Wahab on being nominated as the Mayor of Karachi by the People’s Party and said that it has become very difficult to continue business in the current economic crisis. Korangi has enormous problems with water and sewage, corruption is rampant in the water board and KMC. He said that the tanker mafia is active in Korangi industrial area, water is not available through lines but tankers have to be bought at expensive prices.

President KATI said that the government of Sindh should provide facilities in the budget to reduce the difficulties of the business community. Sales tax refunds are not being received which needs to be addressed.

Zubair Chhaya, Deputy Patron-in-Chief KATI, said that the work of Jam Sadiq bridge should be speeded up. Jam Sadiq Bridge and Korangi Causeway are the only means of transportation from Korangi Industrial Area, people face difficulties in case of rains and traffic jams. He said that rains have been predicted in the city, so the local bodies should ensure the cleaning of the rivers and canals.

Zubair Chhaya hoped that Murtaza Wahab would solve the problems of the city of Karachi, especially the Korangi industrial area, on a priority basis by becoming the mayor of Karachi.
