BYD, through Mega Motor Company, has delivered BYD Atto 2 and Sealion 7 electric vehicles to Islamabad Police, marking a historic step as the first federal department in Pakistan to adopt a new energy vehicle (NEV) fleet. The initiative was celebrated in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior police officials.
The new fleet will support traffic patrol and reduce fuel dependency, lower operating costs, and introduce emission-free mobility into daily policing. This transition comes amid rising fuel prices in Pakistan, emphasising the need for cost-efficient solutions.
An Islamabad Police representative stated, “We aim to adopt sustainable solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce fuel reliance. This move supports the vision for a greener future.”
Danish Khaliq from BYD Pakistan noted that this collaboration sets a precedent for other public-sector organisations in Pakistan, showcasing the benefits of electric mobility for sustainability and operational efficiency. BYD’s vehicles offer zero tailpipe emissions, advanced safety features, and lower running costs, making them ideal for urban law enforcement. Overall, this initiative underscores the shift towards more sustainable transportation in public institutions.
