InfraZamin Pakistan launches an agri-storage portfolio financing facility

InfraZamin Pakistan (IZP) proudly announces the launch of its Agri-Storage Portfolio Financing Facility, developed by the Social Impact Financing Committee led by Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The initiative aims to enhance agricultural value chains and minimize post-harvest losses in Pakistan.

The facility is set to mobilize up to PKR 7.1 billion in private-sector capital (PKR 5.0 billion in debt and PKR 2.1 billion in equity) for agricultural storage investments. Supported by a PKR 2.5 billion credit guarantee from InfraZamin, funds will be allocated to upgrade and build agri-warehouses, silos, and cold storage facilities, initially in partnership with banks such as Pak Brunei Investment Company Limited, Faysal Bank, and Bank of Punjab.

The program, linked to measurable social outcomes, aims to create over 300,000 metric tons of storage capacity for various agricultural products over the next two years, addressing storage gaps and improving market access for farmers. It is also anticipated to generate employment across the agri value chain and stimulate growth in related sectors.

Moreover, developed warehouses will qualify for the State Bank of Pakistan’s Electronic Warehouse Receipt financing scheme, enhancing financial inclusion for farmers.

Mr. Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s commitment to innovative financing solutions for the agriculture sector, while Ms. Maheen Rahman, CEO of InfraZamin, highlighted the potential for significant private investment to bolster rural agricultural storage. Mr. Zafar Masud, CEO of Bank of Punjab, emphasized the need for a formal EWR and Aggregator Financing ecosystem to support these initiatives, and Mr. Yousaf Hussain, CEO of Faysal Bank, reiterated the importance of strengthening agricultural infrastructure for economic resilience and food security.
