Indus Motor committed to reduce its carbon footprint

At its Port Qasim plant, the Management and team of Indus Motor Company (IMC), engaged to plant 1,000 tree saplings on an area measuring two acres. The event was part of a series of activities organized by IMC around the Environment Month, celebrated across the Toyota world in June every year. The plantation activity which was spread over two days generated enthusiastic participation from the entire IMC team.

IMC has pledged to plant a million trees across Pakistan through its One Million Tree Plantation Program partnering with the United Nations Association of Pakistan and aligned with the Global Goal – 3: Climate Action and the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 which aims at achieving zero CO2 emissions and a net positive environmental impact.

Sharing his thoughts, CEO IMC, Asghar Ali Jamali said “Pakistan is on the fifth spot on the list of countries most vulnerable to climate change and unfortunately, has one of the highest deforestation rates, considering the unabated destruction of forests and felling of trees to make way for urban development.”

He further added, “It is our collective responsibility, as a nation, to take sustainable actions andIMC is committed to reduce its carbon footprint and support the Government in its efforts for a greener Pakistan. So far, we have planted approximately half a million trees across Pakistan and our Dealers too have joined hands with us in the One Million Plantation Program”.

In April this year, IMC in its efforts to achieve Carbon Neutrality, became Pakistan’s first company to install one of the largest roof-top mounted solar Photovoltaic (PV) plant and biggest Solar PV plant in the automobile industry in Pakistan. It is also the first such unit in the Toyota Asia-Pacific region.
