Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, spoke at a ceremony organized by the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry on July 30. He highlighted a 30-35% reduction in crimes in Karachi due to the Sindh Police’s efforts to enhance law and order and create a safer business environment.

During the ceremony, Hyderabad Chamber President Saleem Memon raised concerns regarding business centers on police-owned land, such as Choti Gatti and Al-Rahim Shopping Center. The IG emphasized that affected individuals could seek resolution through legal channels and that the provincial government is exploring options to collaborate with the chamber for lawful solutions.

Odho mentioned modernizing policing with technologies like ANPR and facial recognition, and assured collaboration with the business community to expand a camera network for security. He announced the appointment of an ASP/SP-level officer to address traffic issues in Hyderabad and the provision of the Employee Verification System (EVS) at no cost to the business community.

Moreover, the Sindh Police will enhance 24-hour patrolling on key highways and establish a direct contact system for reporting drug-related issues. Odho expressed the shared interests of the police and business community in reducing crime through economic growth.

Saleem Memon acknowledged the importance of law and order for economic activities and proposed training for police on international protocols and community policing. The event also featured speeches from various business leaders and officials present.
