Industries in Hub are facing a critical water crisis, despite the Hub Dam being nearly full. Leaders from the Hub Chamber of Commerce & Industry, including Ismail Suttar and Yakoob H. Karim, have appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for urgent intervention.

They warn that without adequate water supply, industries could halt operations, risking thousands of jobs and causing significant economic losses. The chamber highlights that while Karachi receives the majority of water resources, Hub’s outdated allocation formula, established in the 1980s, no longer meets the region’s needs, as Hub’s population and industrial base have grown dramatically over the years.

The chamber leaders emphasize that while the Hub Dam may overflow soon, industries and residents are struggling for their fair share of water. Many factories are operating below capacity, and if conditions do not improve, widespread closures and unemployment may ensue. They call for a review of the water-sharing formula to better reflect current realities and demand immediate action from the federal government to address the crisis and ensure sustainable water allocation for Hub’s growing population and industries.
