Bahria Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd, the shipping agents of barge Heng Tong 77, has requested the port authority and other stakeholders to allow the salvage team to refloat/pull the grounded vessel tomorrow.

Today’s efforts went in vain when the tug Seamax Prime was towing the ship, the nylon rope, which was intact with wire rope, broken. The team is trying to recover the same, but to continue operation would be complex, an official remarked. Otherwise, the process would be resumed on August 22, when the high tide would be available under the supervision of the shipping agent and salvage team. The boat is still in the same beaching position for the last twenty-three days.

A tug Harmony and another winch barge with local shore equipment’s remain standby buy for operation.
