Funds released for development projects in Industrial Areas of Karachi: Jam Khan Shoro

The Minster for Local Government, Housing & Town Planning, Government of Sindh , Jam Khan Shoro has said that funds for development in industrial areas has been released, contracts for garbage collection have been finalized with Chinese companies for District East and South and other districts would be included in this soon. While he was talking to a dinner arranged in his honor by Korangi Association of Trade &Industry (KATI), he said that record development project completion is a lone credit of Sindh government.

On this occasion Patron in Chief of KATI S M Muneer, President Masood Naqi, Senior Vice President Ghazanfar Ali, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Zubair Chhaya MD KW&SB Hashim Raza, Gulzar Firoz spoke and Vice President of the association Umer Rehan, Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, Syed Farukh Mazhar, Ehtishamuddin , Shaikh FazaleJalil, SM Yahya, Tariq Malik and other members of executive committee and former Presidents of KATI and representatives of Business Community were also present.

Patron-in-Chief of KATI SM Muneer Said that corruption in government institution is mounted more than severity and should be curbed on war footings measures. He told that disproportion between supply and demand of water in Karachi now turned into a crisis. He said that industry has no roam unless buying water on heavy prices to continue its production and striving to maintain deadlines of export orders. SM Muneer suggested that business community is ready to mediate conflicts of federal and provincial governments.

On this occasion President of KATI Masood Naqi briefed the minister about problems faced by Korangi Industrial Area especially infrastructural flaws of water sewerage and supply systems in the area. He also congratulated the minister on the completion of development projects, carried out by Sindh government and completed in a record period.
Provincial minister told the gathering that on his first visit to KATI he has made some commitments and now most of those have been fulfilled, and others are underway. He said that there were 72 Hydrants in the city, most of them shut downed on the complaints and now there is only 6 are working in those localities where infrastructure is not available for supply. He ensured that K4 project would complete within promised time and water shortage in Karachi will come to an end. He said that government of Sindh is also facing fund shortage and we have reservation on allocated funds for Karachi by federal government. He said despite providing 70 pc of revenue Karachi is not getting its due share in resources.

Head of KATI’s standing committee on local government Zubair Chhaya suggested to form a mandated committee consisting on industry and government representatives to make a working relationship between the government and the business community to identify and resolve issues regarding utilities and civic services.
