Greenstar and KfW Inaugurate Third Portable Container Health Center

Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) inaugurated its third Portable Container Health Center (PCHC) in district Sheikhupura, Punjab. The ceremony took place at village Noon, where Wolfgang Möllers, Director KfW Development Bank (KfW) Pakistan Office, inaugurated the PCHC. Dr. Masuma Zaidi, the Project Coordinator Health Sector at KfW was also present on this occasion.

The PCHC project is financed by the German Government through KfW and provides readymade health centers equipped with all necessary medical equipment needed to provide maternal and newborn health care services. The objective of this project is to contribute towards the economic growth and development of the country through women empowerment, reduction in poverty, and ensuring good health and well-being.

Wolfgang Möllers expressed the German Government’s support for the PCHC project through KfW and gave his heartiest congratulations to GSM’s management for reaching the most remote areas of Pakistan with much needed health services in a bid to bring positive change in the lives of poor communities. He stated that such initiatives will bring economic dividends for rural communities in the future.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Syed Azizur Rab, CEO – GSM, said, “I would like to thank KfW Development Bank and the German government for supporting our innovative health project. Together, our aim is to promote mother and child health in marginalized communities in a bid to empower them for a better future.” The ceremony was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Haroon Ibrahim, the Program Manager KfW Programs – GSM, who expressed his gratitude to the German Government and KfW for contributing towards a healthy and prosperous Pakistan.

Under this project, the first PCHC was set up at Village Mohri, Tehsil Gujar Khan – District Rawalpindi, with the second one being set up at Babaji Kalay village, district Nowshera – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
