FPCCI extends full support to the Sindh Police in the maintenance of law & order

Mr. Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of FPCCI, has extended his full support to the Sindh Police in maintaining law and order from the platform of the apex body. We aim for a safe and secure, economically vibrant, business-friendly, and prosperous Sindh. The business community is the real stakeholder at the receiving end of law and order challenges. Therefore, it is in our interest to support the Sindh Police in its tremendous show of courage and sacrifice, he added.

It is pertinent to note that Mr Javed Alam Odho, Additional Inspector General—Karachi, Sindh Police, paid a detailed visit to Federation House for an interactive session with the business, industry, and trade community to answer their questions and address their grievances. President FPCCI informed him that he provided some immediate solutions, substantive remedial orders, and tangible follow-up measures on the spot.

Mr Atif Ikram Sheikh also said that AIG has briefed FPCCI on the performance of Sindh Police over the last few months, which categorically shows a declining crime rate in Karachi. Nevertheless, he admitted that much more must be done to restore investor confidence fully.

The FPCCI Chief paid tribute to the martyrs and ghazis of the Sindh Police, who put their lives in danger daily. He added that the media can play a pivotal role in projecting the soft image of Karachi and Sindh to the world and should, particularly, portray the contributions and sacrifices embraced by the Sindh Police.

MMrSaquib Fayyaz Magoon, SVP of FPCCI, proposed giving FPCCI access to an online FIR portal to register FIRs and police complaints vis-à-vis. This would expedite the redressal and resolution of issues for the business community. Digital access can also simplify and streamline the process of contacting law enforcement. He also proposed a joint seminar to market, project, and position the province as an investment-friendly destination worldwide.

Mr Aman Paracha, Mr Asif Sakhi, and Abdul Mohamed Khan, VPs of FPCCI, discussed sectorial, transportation, ports, regional, inter-, and intra-provincial law and order issues facing the business community. These issues can be resolved through better coordination, liaison, and stakeholder consultation.

Mr Javed Alam Odho, AIG Sindh Police, briefed the large ensemble of intelligent industrialists on e-tagging, facial recognition cameras, safe cities, and other technological initiatives similar to those of other developed industrial towns worldwide. Additionally, thousands of police personnel are being hired and are at various stages of the recruitment process.

Mr. Javed Alam Odho, AIG Sindh Police, said major steps will be taken to make Karachi a safe city next year. The police use GPS and cellular data extensively to curtail and control crime. We must utilize technology to reduce the burden on the police force and enhance the precision of its operations, he added.

During the meeting, it was decided that Mr Ikram Rajput, Convener of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Law & Order for the Sindh Region, would be nominated as the focal person from FPCCI to convey complaints and grievances to the high command of Sindh Police for their swift and satisfactory resolution.
