Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Friday told Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s efforts to reduce the political temperature in the country are commendable. He said that the political tension between different parties has turned into enmity, and the current hostility worries the people.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the political enmity is destroying the country’s economy, which is a cause of great concern.

Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that if the political conflict continued, the business community’s confidence would continue to decrease, and the economy would sink.

He said the ruling party is trying to reduce political tensions in the country. In this context, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has met President Arif Alvi twice in seventeen days to start the government and PTI negotiations.

It will reduce tensions, and the government will be in a better position to provide relief to the people, manage the economy, restore agriculture, help the flood victims and reestablish the reputation of Pakistan.

He said President Arif Alvi’s attitude is also positive, but the opposition leaders are not showing positive signs so far.

The government wants unconditional talks with the PTI in which pressure tactics will not be allowed. The government has given a positive signal to the opposition by delaying the implementation of the no-confidence motion against the Punjab Chief Minister, to which PTI should respond appropriately, he added.

Mian Zahid Hussain said President Arif Alvi has been trying to resolve the political issues for the past three months. His views are positive regarding the Charter of Economy, and he does not favour PTI’s decision to resign from the National Assembly.

He did not allow the appointment of the new Army Chief to become controversial. Therefore, the business community pays tribute to President Arif Alvi for his positive attitude toward domestic affairs.

The business community also expects the new army chief to take effective steps to restore the army’s reputation and keep the institution from political affairs and professional experiences.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the sooner the opposition realizes that dialogue is the best way to solve problems, the better it will be for the country.
