The Board of Directors of Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL) has approved installing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with a combined capacity of 25 MWh, along with dedicated solar power setups of 5 MW each at the company’s Nizampur and Jhang Bahtar plants.

According to the company’s communication to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the project will have an aggregate BESS capacity of 50 MWh and solar capacity of 10 MW, with completion targeted within 10 months from commencement.

The initiative aims to store daytime solar energy for discharge during evening peak hours, reducing reliance on grid electricity and optimizing energy costs. The project also enhances FCCL’s renewable energy footprint, aligning with its long‑term sustainability goals.

The company emphasized that integrating battery storage with solar generation will strengthen operational efficiency and support Pakistan’s broader transition toward cleaner energy sources.

Brig Kashif Naveed Abbasi, SI(M), Retd., Company Secretary, made the announcement through a formal notice to the Exchange today.
