Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest at the Pakistan Policy Dialogue titled “Correcting Course: Pakistan’s Economic Reset” in Islamabad. He emphasised the necessity of a technology-enabled governance approach to enhance public service delivery and ensure effective policy outcomes.
He noted that all diplomatic efforts focus on fostering business, enhancing exports, and establishing economic partnerships. The Dialogue brought together senior policymakers, corporate leaders, and development experts to discuss pragmatic reforms, digitisation, and the strengthening of institutional frameworks.
Organised by the Policy Research and Advisory Council (PRAC) in collaboration with the CORPORATE PAKISTAN GROUP (CPG) and others, it aims to serve as a recurring platform for evidence-based policy discourse.
Key speakers included Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, who highlighted the need for planning, productivity, and a balanced approach to economic recovery. Senator Aurangzeb spoke about government reform priorities focused on macroeconomic stability, while Senator Dr Malik stressed equitable resource distribution, particularly for women and graduates.
Muhammad Ali discussed the importance of privatisation in addressing public sector challenges, and Dr Husain pointed out the need to shift focus from goods to services exports.
Younus emphasised a solutions-oriented approach, noting Pakistan’s economic turnaround and the importance of preparing for future disruptions, particularly in AI. Azfar connected the theme, stressing that a meaningful economic reset requires collaboration between the state and the private sector.
