Children’s writing workshop held

Writing for children is no child’s play, and that’s why many leading fiction writers refuse to write for children.” These thoughts were expressed by Shehzad Qamar, Director of Ataleeq Foundation Pakistan, while addressing a Children’s Writing Workshop organized by the Sathee Guidance Forum.

Shehzad Qamar further stated that instead of being intimidated by digital media outlets, they be used effectively to cater to the targeted audience, since there is an acute dearth of quality fiction writers.

Fasihullah Hussaini, the editor of the preschool children’s Urdu magazine Jigmag Taarey, said it is essential that the element of interest never fades when writing for children.

Abdul Rahman Momin, Urdu poet and former editor of Mahnama Sathee, talked in detail about different literary genres in Urdu. In his address, Brother Aabish Siddiqui, Director of ISCH Karachi, highlighted the importance of children’s writers. Muhammad Owais Munir, in charge of the Sathee Guidance Forum, presented a detailed introduction to Mahnama Sathee.

Certificates were distributed among the participants at the end of the workshop.
