CEO Yasin Seker outlines a farmer-led plan to introduce modern agricultural technology

Al-Ghazi Tractors Limited (AGTL), one of Pakistan’s leading agricultural machinery manufacturers, served as a Platinum Sponsor of the Pakistan Agricultural Coalition’s (PAC) Agri-Connections Conference & Expo 2026. The event, held on October 1-2 at the Lahore Expo Centre in partnership with the Government of Punjab, focused on “Food Security and Agri-Investment in the Era of Climate Change.” Strategic partners included the World Bank, IFC, and the FAO, bringing together policymakers, agribusiness leaders, financiers, and farmers.

On Day 1, Chief Executive Officer Al-Ghazi Yasin Seker highlighted four agricultural challenges: lagging crop yields, rising food demand, rising input costs, and the impact of climate change on farming. Drawing from AGTL’s manufacturing heritage since 1983, he emphasized that the company’s contribution goes beyond tractors through localization, supplier development, and a nationwide service network.

“Pakistani farmers need dependable horsepower at an affordable price, but their needs are evolving. They now seek productivity, uptime, and support throughout the machine’s life,” stated Seker. He outlined two promising technology directions: telematics for real-time monitoring and precision guidance to improve efficiency.

Seker stressed that adoption must be farmer-led, advocating for a practical approach that strengthens basic mechanization before introducing high-value applications. “Technology must follow value. If it can’t prove its worth in the field, it shouldn’t be scaled,” he asserted.

On Day 2, Seker joined a panel on the future of technology in agriculture, urging a shift from conventional tractorization to an integrated ecosystem of machinery and digital tools. He explained that tractor production and sales have declined, highlighting the need for affordable access to machinery. Custom hiring, rental, and mechanization-as-a-service models can help small farmers access modern equipment.

AGTL emphasized that advancing agriculture requires collaboration among all stakeholders, including farmers, manufacturers, government, financial institutions, and technology providers. “No single stakeholder can close this gap alone. When we work together, modern agricultural technology becomes accessible and useful,” Seker concluded.

At its stall, AGTL showcased its New Holland tractors to visitors. The Platinum sponsorship builds on AGTL’s earlier decision to join PAC as a Patron, bringing over 40 years of experience to PAC’s agenda for a competitive agriculture sector.
