BYD unveils 2nd gen Blade Battery and FLASH charging tech

BYD has launched its 2nd Generation Blade Battery and FLASH Charging Technology, addressing major issues in electric vehicles, including slow charging speeds and poor performance in low temperatures. The new technology allows batteries to charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes and to 97% in 9 minutes, with minimal delay even at -30°C.

To support this, BYD plans to establish 20,000 FLASH Charging Stations across China and expand globally by the end of 2026. Chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasised the need for the industry to solve slow charging and low-temperature challenges.

The 2nd Generation Blade Battery improves energy density by 5% over its predecessor while significantly enhancing charging speed. Equipped with advanced thermal management to minimise heat, it also prioritises safety, surpassing national standards. The DENZA Z9GT, using this battery, boasts a range of 1,036 km.

BYD’s FLASH Charger outputs 1500 kW, ensuring grid-friendly charging by integrating high-capacity energy storage. The innovative T-shaped pulley design makes the charging experience more convenient, aiming to transform public charging into a more user-friendly process.

With a commitment to sustainability and electric mobility, BYD continues to pursue its “Three Green Dreams,” leading the charge toward a greener future through technological advancements.
