Business community should come forward for cleanliness in Karachi: CM Sindh

Chief Minister Sindh Murad Alis Shah asked business community to contribute in his “Saaf Karachi” campaign while he was addressing to a gathering of industrialist on the occasion of annual dinner of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI). Patron in Chief of KATI SM Muneer, President Danish Khan and Chairman & CEO KITE Zubair Chhaya also spoke to the occasion.

According to details released by KATI the CM said that there is a wrong perception that Peoples Party do not give due attention to urban Sindh, our government had completed record development projects in Karachi during last three years. He said that Sindh government has been released 12 to 14 billion rupees to KMC during last three month annually just for the development but nothing was done by the city administration. He said garbage lifting and maintaining cleanliness in Karachi is core responsibility of KMC and DMCs but due to their inaction finally Sindh government decided to take the responsibility for the sake of Karachi. He told that 60 to 70 temporary Garbage transportation stations (GTS) had been established all over the city and more than 137 thousand ton of garbage backlog has been cleared from the city. He also told that the largest water supply project for the city, K-4 could be delayed for 1 and half year more however Sindh government is considering an alternative project of 180 million gallon.

He cited that billons of rupees of Sindh share in NFC hadn’t released by the federation and it is causing big hurdles in the development of the province. He said that PM Khan vowed 162 billion ruppes package for Karachi last year but not a single rupee was released. He further said that Pakistan is facing worst economic condition, in this situation federal government should give confidence to business community instead of putting more burden on them.

SM Muneer said that initiatives taken by CM for cleanliness in Karachi are appreciable. He said that more the 700 billion of exports refunds are due and government only released bond of 10 billion, “if these refunds would have released on time we could rise our exports two times” he added. SM Muneer said that for the prosperity and security of the country business community stands firm with Pak Army and ready to give any sacrifice.

President Danish Khan said that CM has issued 1.04 billion rupees for the development of Korangi Industrial Area, which is a commendable initiative “industrialist community of the area is thankful for this” he added. He also welcomed the “Saaf Karachi” campaign of CM Sindh and assured support. Danish Khan demanded that federal government should release share of Sindh in NFC and take measures to complete Green Line bus project. Danish Khan also congratulated newly elected President of KATI Sheikh Umer Rehan, Senior Vice President Ikram Rajput and vice President Syed Wajid Hussain. Chairman KITE Zubair Chhaya told that with the funds issued by CM there was 14 projects approved, 8 of them would complete soon and work on other 6 is underway.

Information minister of Sindh Saeed Ghani, Advisor to CM on Law and environment Murtaza Wahab, President of FPCCI Eng Daro Khan Achakzai, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Dr Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig, Khalid Tawab, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani, DC Korangi Shahryar Memon, Umer Rehan, Akbar Farooqui, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Faraz-ur-Rehman, Maheen Salman and other prominent personalities of business community also attended the dinner.
