Senior Economic Advisor of the British High Commission in Islamabad, Louie Dane, visited Hyderabad to understand its economy and gather feedback from the local business community. He highlighted the UK’s support for Pakistan’s economic growth, emphasising the Pakistan-UK Trade Dialogue established last year to reduce trade barriers.
Dane spoke about the Jobs and Economic Transformation Programme Pakistan (JETPAK), which aims to strengthen the private sector, create jobs, and boost exports, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He thanked the Hyderabad Chamber for their support and assured that their recommendations would be incorporated as JETPAK progresses.
Chamber President Saleem Memon welcomed the delegation, noting the Chamber’s role in addressing key business issues and describing JETPAK as crucial for promoting SMEs and enhancing Pakistan’s economy, especially for its large youth population.
He emphasised Hyderabad’s potential in various industries, such as textiles and handicrafts. During the visit on April 22 and 23, the delegation met with local traders and visited factories and cultural sites in Hyderabad, expressing gratitude to the Chamber for organising the visit.
