Asif Inam becomes Central Chairman of APTMA

Mr Asif Inam has been elected unopposed as Central Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) for 2022-23. Earlier, he served as APTMA Southern Zone’s Vice Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and 2020 to 2022. He is the Chief Executive of Diamond International Corporation Ltd and has vowed to restore the viability of the textile industry to ensure growth and sustainability.

Likewise, Mr Rehman Naseem was elected as Senior Vice Chairman, and Mr Naveed Ahmed & Mr Asad Shafi were Vice Chairmen, respectively.

In his address, Mr Asif Inam assured APTMA Members that he and his team would not leave any stone unturned for taking forward the agenda of growth and sustainability of the textile industry while ensuring regional competitiveness as APTMA members are suffering from major issues.

He stressed the harmony and unity amongst the APTMA members to resolve the issues amicably. “APTMA would be represented in the same fashion as the previous management has carried it on,” he added. He further said that he would make all efforts to build up the image of the APTMA being the premier association of the textile industry in Pakistan.

He said it is unfortunate that the textile industry, the mainstay of the economy, leading foreign exchange earner and employment provider through backward and forward linkages, was currently passing through an unprecedented crisis. Consequently, the capacity to produce over $5 billion in exports is already closed.

He said the textile industry has already invested over US$ 5 billion and is ready to invest one billion dollars annually if the government ensures a friendly environment to double the exports in the next five years.
