Argentina’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sebastián Sayús, has offered Argentina’s expertise in agricultural machinery, grain storage, and post-harvest management to help Pakistan reduce significant losses in agricultural produce.

During a visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), he noted that Pakistan loses 10-20 percent of its grain output and 35-40 percent of horticultural produce annually due to inadequate storage and post-harvest practices. He said Argentina’s advanced solutions, including silo bags and metallic silos, could help strengthen Pakistan’s agricultural supply chain and reduce wastage.

The ambassador also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, dairy and pharmaceuticals, particularly in oncology products. He emphasized the embassy’s commitment to facilitating business-to-business linkages and joint ventures between companies of both countries.

Referring to bilateral trade, Sayús said Argentina exported goods worth around US$247 million to Pakistan in 2025, while Pakistan’s exports to Argentina stood at approximately US$75 million.

KCCI President Talat Mahmood called for greater diversification of bilateral trade, enhanced market access for Pakistani products and stronger business cooperation to address the existing trade imbalance and unlock the full potential of economic relations between the two countries.
