The Asian Productivity Organisation’s international conference on Green Productivity 2.0 (GP 2.0) successfully concluded at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). The two-day event gathered government officials, industry leaders, academics, and international experts from 21 APO member economies, with over 80 foreign delegates participating.
Discussions focused on themes like sustainable architecture, energy efficiency, circular-economy innovation, and green hydrogen applications. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasised that green productivity is essential to Pakistan’s economic growth, aiming for over 6% GDP growth and a 30% reduction in emissions by 2035. Dr Musadiq Malik highlighted the need for cleaner energy systems, while Ms Shaista Pervaiz Malik stressed the need to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
Mr. Zainuri Juri from the APO praised Pakistan’s leadership in advancing green productivity. The conference underscored the importance of collaboration among government, academia, and industry to support Pakistan’s transition to a low-carbon, competitive industrial economy.
