Ambreen Jan becomes the new Secretary of Information and Broadcasting.

The federal government recently appointed Ambreen Jan as the new Secretary of Information and Broadcasting.

The government has issued a notification in this regard, stating: “Ms Ambreen Jan, a BS-21 officer of Information Group, presently posted as Executive Director General, External Publicity (EP) Wing, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is transferred and posted as Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1971, with immediate effect and until further orders”.

Ms. Ambreen Jan is a senior officer of the Information Group. She joined the service in 1990 and has served in various key positions. As a career civil servant, she has held a diverse range of policy-making positions, including Press Counsellor at the High Commission of Pakistan, Dhaka; Deputy Director General, Islamabad in PID, Islamabad; and Executive Director General, EP Wing at M/o I&B, Islamabad. She has also remained the Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation.

Her alma maters include Kinnaird College University for Women, Lahore, where she completed her B.A., and Government College Lahore, where she did her M.A. in English Literature.

She is also a National Security Course 2020 graduate from the National Defense University, Islamabad. She also attended language courses in French from L’Alliance Française in 2007-2008.
