Additional tax on exports should be withdrawn, KATI

President of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Salman Aslam has demanded the withdrawal of additional taxes in the budget. He said that according to Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, no additional taxes were imposed in the budget and most of the tax amount would be returned through refunds.

President KATI said that the refunds of the industrialists were already pending and the problems were increasing due to missing cases. He said that in the present scenario when not only the export industry but also the local industry was facing difficulties, the business community would get entangled in the cycle of refund claims instead of trade and it would be very difficult to do business. He said that the government should take steps to facilitate the industrialists and exporters and not to impose more taxes and tangled them to claim refunds.

Salman Aslam appealed to the government to reconsider and withdraw additional taxes imposed in the mini-budget.

President KATI said that the industrialists were already facing financial difficulties due to the payment of 100 percent margin and the burden of further taxes would be detrimental to the economy.
