A tribute to Muhammad Rafi

Houseful musical session “Rafi Ki Yadein” observed on the evening of 31st July at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi where hundreds gathered to pay tribute to the late legendary singer Muhammad Rafi on his 38th death anniversary.

Saleem Shehzad, legendary play back singer and the focal attraction of the evening, said that today’s era is a period of chaos and it is a great deal to conduct such a marvelous session to honor the late classical singers during such horrific times. He said that despite of Rafi’s valiant efforts in the musical world, not a single award has been passed to his pay tribute to the legend’s legacy. He requested to the government that a ticket should be named for Muhammad Rafi by least. He said that president Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah indeed share the pain of classical artists and doing a great deal to promote classical music.

Amjad Hussain Shah, senior producer of PTV, said that neither there was a great play back singer in the sub-continent as Muhammad Rafi nor there will be. He was the legend in musical world. Amjad Shah appreciated Saleem Shehzad saying that he is one of those singers who followed the path of Rafi and his charisma is identical to as of late Muhammad Rafi.

Iqbal Latif, member of governing body Arts Council Karachi, said that the magical voice of Rafi is still wandering through our hearts and the dedication he showed for the classical music was appreciable.

Later,Saleem Shehzad performed his magical performance which was applaud by the huge crowd attending the occasion. He presented the evergreen classical songs including “Kiya Hua Tera Wada”, Gulabi Ankheen Jo Teri Dekhin”, Bahroon Phool Barsao” and many other eminent film songs which arouse the audience. The session was also attended by renowned personalities including Feroz Akhtar, Pervaiz Siddiqui, Asjad Bukhari, Noman Khan, Mehboob Ashraf and many other famous artists.
