· A negative session was recorded at the PSX today. The benchmark KSE-100 index opened in the green, but momentum quickly turned as the index swayed both ways and concluded in the deep red after recording an intraday low of 422.02 points as political instability prevailed surrounding the former Prime Minister’s imminent court hearings. Investor participation was varied, with moderate volumes recorded across the board, with third-tier equities leading the volume board.

· The index closed at 41,442.07 down by 391.59pts (-0.94% DoD). Sectors contributing to the performance include Commercial Banks (-128.1pts), Technology & Communication (-94.4pts), Fertilizer (-56.1pts), E&P’s (-45.1pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-27.6pts).

· Volumes decreased from 125.5mn shares to 101.3mn shares (-19.3% DoD). The average traded value also decreased by -15.7% to USD 10.5mn as against USD 12.4mn.

· Stocks that contributed significantly to the volumes are WTL, PRL, CNERGY, OGDC and FFL.
