PICG Directors’ Summit 2026 focuses on governance and leadership for Pakistan’s future

The Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) Directors’ Summit 2026 emphasized the need for corporate boards to move beyond compliance and actively manage challenges such as economic uncertainty, technological disruption, and sustainability.

Themed “The Showcase: Your Leadership, Your Impact,” the summit brought together over 350 directors, business leaders, and regulators to discuss how stronger governance can build resilient institutions. PICG Chairman Muhammad Ashraf Bawany highlighted that good governance is about building trust and sustainable value.

Chief Guest Muhammad Ali Tabba stressed that good governance forms the foundation of business. PSX CEO Farrukh H. Sabzwari and former Minister for Investment Muhammad Azfar Ahsan discussed market integrity and the need for boards to anticipate economic shifts.

Panels on Agile boards and Family Legacy addressed risk management, succession, and balancing family ownership with professional management. The importance of technology governance was also underscored, with panels focusing on cybersecurity and AI.

Kabeer Naqvi emphasized governance as vital to digital banking innovation, while Zaffar A. Khan and Dr. Syed Amir Ali discussed integrating governance and sustainability in the non-profit and Islamic finance sectors. 

Closing keynote speaker Hussain Dawood highlighted the importance of visionary leadership and resilience in creating lasting institutional value. The summit concluded with the PICG Recognition Awards, underscoring the need for proactive governance amid disruption.
